Days after Beyoncé and Ed Sheehan shared a stage in South Africa, the Twitterverse continues to having a meltdown about the latter’s attire.
Sheeran wore jeans and a black T-shirt over a white long-sleeved shirt for his appearance at the Global Citizens Festival while Beyoncé showcased no less than six outfits, including designer gowns.
On social media, people have slammed Sheeran for not upping his style game for the event. (The British singer was equally dressed-down when he performed with Beyoncé at the Grammys in 2015.)
Others used the moment to shine light on the fashion double standard in pop culture. (Although we're guessing Beyoncé could have got away with wearing jeans and a T-shirt.)
Sheeran responded with an Instagram Story in which he joked that fans should swipe up to "get the look" and included the hashtag #dresstoimpress.
Of course, he's not the only one who finds the fashionable fuss a bit funny.
"When you're as talented as Ed or Bey, you can get away with any dresscode," tweeted @beewol. "Oh and you set the trend, you don't follow it. Ed Sheeran is comfortable dressing like a 40 year old virgin from 2003 and Beyonce is comfortable dressing like a 16 year old going for Prom. Deal with it!"
@MollyShep opined: "Here’s a better headline.. 'Ed Sheeran wears what he is comfortable in. Beyoncé wears what she is comfortable in' Why is everyone so quick to call gender inequality these days? It’s getting pathetic."
And score one for this guy. "Why are people giving Ed Sheeran s**t for dressing like this when Beyonce is wearing a f**king loofah?," tweeted @RobOSullivan. "I mean, she's nailing it, but still"
Here’s a peek at some of the reactions:
beyonce: what are you wearing tonight?

Ed Sheeran: something casual.
Beyonce: oh you really meant casual. pic.twitter.com/X55Skbivrb
Ed Sheeran is a 27 year old man the fact we’ve enabled him to feel it’s ok to dress like this at all, let alone next to Beyoncé really boils my piss pic.twitter.com/Q6XqgTFuvQ

Its nice that Ed Sheeran still dresses like a busker even if he's on stage with Beyoncé possibly the most glamorous woman on the planet. pic.twitter.com/wjzHzMW52m

Ed Sheeran is actually wearing a 3-piece custom tuxedo. That’s just what white people always look like standing next to Beyoncé. pic.twitter.com/YO2nyuNOSw
