Billie Eilish’s early obsession with Justin Bieber nearly landed her in therapy, her mother has revealed.
Appearing on Eilish’s radio show, Maggie Baird recalled the kind of impact the Canadian pop star’s music had on her daughter.
“You were in so much pain over Justin Bieber,” said Baird. “It was so intense, it caused you so much pain!
“We did consider taking you to therapy.”
Baird remembered being in a car with Eilish while Bieber’s 2012 single “As Long As You Love Me” was playing.
“Driving to the dance studio with Billie, playing this song, sobbing, and then driving back and sobbing,” she said. “Not just this, it was all of Justin Bieber… Any Justin Bieber song, but I just happen to remember this one really well, and the video, and Billie talking to me about it, and being excited that it was coming out and just crying and crying.
“Everyone knows the whole Billie-Justin Bieber thing, but this song was a big part of it.”
In 2018, Eilish told radio station KROQ about how she was in love with Bieber when she was 12. “In my head, he was in love with me,” she recalled. “It was, like, a relationship with a person.”
Eilish met Bieber for the first time at Coachella in April 2019. Three months later, Eilish released a remix of her hit “Bad Guy” featuring a verse by Bieber.
