Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has put to rest any rumours floating around that he is Taylor Swift’s biological father.
The 51-year-old musician posted a bizarre two-part response to a meme that suggests that 28-year-old Swift, without makeup, looks like him.
"I'll take the compliment of the comparison here despite the fact that I guess the jokes on me? (and not the lovely and talented Miss Swift),” Corgan wrote on Instagram.
The rocker insists he can’t be related to Swift for one very good reason: “There is NO such person as ‘Billy Corgan’. He (BC) does not exist. Or, if he does exist (per these times), he is a creation from my mind to yours, and no different than a cartoon drawing of Batman or Sponge Bob.”
Describing Billy Corgan as “a construct of own making,” Corgan said he “purposely changed” his eyes “from open to ovals half closed, like those of a snake.” He then compared himself to Bob Dylan, who was born Robert Zimmerman.
“Like him, I simply invented myself anew.”
At the end of the explanation, the Smashing Pumpkins singer declares: “You can keep Billy Corgan, he is dead, and he's there for you to mock and use as you wish.”
