BLACKPINK are set to return in 2025, making their official comeback and launching a world tour.
In a video posted to YouTube, YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun-suk revealed details for the K-pop empire next year, confirming the return of BLACKPINK, who went on a reported "indefinite hiatus" in 2023 following the expiry of their contract with YG.
“There will be a highly anticipated comeback from BLACKPINK [in 2025]," Yang revealed. “[It will] also be the year [that the group] start their world tour.”
Yang also broke the news that pioneering K-pop group 2NE1 have reunited after disbanding in 2016. The celebrated girl group will celebrate their 15th anniversary with a world tour that kicks off in Seoul beginning in October, followed by shows in Japan throughout November and December. More dates are expected in 2025.
Formed in 2009, 2NE1 walked so artists like BLACKPINK and BTS could run. In 2012, they became the first Korean girl group to perform solo arena shows in North America.
In addition to those tours, Yang continued to reveal that the K-pop agency has even more plans in the works for 2025, including BABYMONSTER and TREASURE.
“I can’t say we have specific plans yet," he teased, "but I think a lot of artists will be active simultaneously.”
