Canadian guitarist Phil X and his Bon Jovi bandmates dropped a new single Thursday, “Do What You Can,” along with a new release date for their 15th studio album.
Bon Jovi 2020, originally scheduled to be out in May, will be available Oct. 2. It is the first collection of new music from the band since 2016’s This House Is Not for Sale.
According to a press release, the album boasts “a breadth and depth of songwriting, titled for a challenging and pivotal election year.”
The delayed release meant frontman Jon Bon Jovi was able to write and two new tracks: “American Reckoning” and “Do What You Can.” They replace previously-announced songs “Luv Can” and “Shine" and follow "Limitless" as singles.
Bon Jovi was forced to cancel its world tour with Canada’s Bryan Adams due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The virus also hit close to home for the band – in March, keyboardist David Bryan revealed he tested positive.
Jon Bon Jovi said he believes his 18-year-old son Jacob recovered from a “very mild, unconfirmed” case of COVID-19.
