Cardi B and her husband, Migos rapper Offset, were questioned by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers on Saturday when they arrived in Toronto ahead of her scheduled appearance at the Veld music festival.
Cardi was eventually allowed into Canada but Offset was denied entry.
“I was going to have my husband perform with me but he didn’t make it to the country,” the rap star told the crowd before performing their collaboration “Clout.” (Cardi brought out the couple's daughter Kulture.)

As a result of the CBSA enforcement, Cardi didn’t make it onto the Veld stage until 10:45 – only 15 minutes before the city’s noise curfew forced organizers to cut the sound. The rap star kept performing, even after the audio was cut, prompting chants of “Cardi! Cardi! Cardi!” by the crowd.

Citing privacy regulations, the CBSA does not publicly discuss the status of any person attempting to enter the country.
Offset was likely deemed inadmissible because he was charged in April with felony possession of firearms stemming from a traffic stop in July 2018. The 27-year-old rapper, whose real name is Kiari Cephus, has existing felony convictions for burglary and theft. He also pleaded guilty to inciting a riot within a penal facility.
Last summer, Migos had to cancel an appearance in Montreal after Offset was denied entry.
Cardi’s border issues are likely because in June she was indicted on 14 charges, including two counts of felony assault with intent to cause serious physical injury, stemming from an alleged attack on two strip club workers.
