Canadian country star Brett Kissel opened up last week about an accident that nearly claimed the life of his father.
“This is a story I haven't shared publicly with anyone,” Kissel revealed, “but it was, without question a life changing moment for me.”
In an Instagram post, Kissel recalled how his father Gordon, a cattle rancher, lost control of his ATV during a late-night ride back in July. The vehicle flipped over and pinned the 60-year-old underneath.

Kissel’s father wasn’t discovered until the following afternoon. He was airlifted to University Hospital in Edmonton from the family’s ranch in Flat Lake — roughly 200 km northeast of the provincial capital.
“I’m afraid to think that had STARS Air Ambulance not been available, my Dad would have died,” Kissel said.
The singer’s father spent more than a month in hospital but is now back on the ranch.
Kissel shared the frightening experience on the eve of his performance at the Building Magic in the Air Gala in Edmonton, which raised funds for the STARS Foundation.
