Only minutes after tickets went on sale Monday morning for Brett Kissel - Live at the Drive-In, five additional shows were added to meet demand.
“I miss my fans, and today they let me know in the most powerful way that the feeling is mutual,” the Canadian country star said, in a release. “Things are tough in Alberta, but we’re a province of trailblazers, innovators and fighters and that is why it was so important for me to make these shows happen in my home province.
"I cannot wait to step out onto that stage again and do so six times over the weekend. But on a deeper level, getting a chance to raise money and raise spirits for people in need is the most fulfilling part of it all.”
Kissel announced last Thursday that he would perform June 13 in the parking lot of the River Cree Resort and Casino. In partnership with grocery chain Safeway, all the proceeds from the event will go to Food Banks Alberta.
Instead, he will perform hour-long shows at 4 pm, 7 pm and 11 pm on June 13 and again on June 14. How many $50-per-vehicle tickets were sold was not disclosed.
Concertgoers will not be allowed to exit their vehicles for any reason (washrooms will not be available) under threat of “immediate removal from the concert.”
Fans everywhere will be able to watch a livestream of the one-hour concert. Safeway will match donations, up to $25,000, made during the show.
