Britney Spears' classic hits might be coming to Broadway, if two-time Tony winner Jerry Mitchell (responsible for Kinky Boots and On Your Feet!) has his way with the pop titan's catalogue, according to Forbes.
On Monday (May 1), Forbes reported that Mitchell recently met with the singer's managers, Larry Rudolph and Adam Leber, to discuss the possibility of using her catalogue in a full-fledged theatrical production. As the director of Gloria and Emilio Estefan's story, Mitchell told Forbes that the use of Spears' classics would not be paired with an autobiographical story. Instead, her pop classics would be used in a fictional tale ala Mamma Mia!, which falls on ABBA's catalogue to tell the narrative. "Rudolph and Mitchell are still mulling over the idea, and no timeline has been announced," Forbes continued.
Just last weekend, the world was reminded of some of Britney's biggest hits when sister Jamie Lynn performed alongside Hailee Steinfeld, Kelsea Ballerini, and Sofia Carson in a special tribute to the singer for Radio Disney's first-ever Icon Awards presentation.
