The Broadway musical Head Over Heels, which uses the songs of The Go-Go’s, will close on Jan. 6 after only 225 performances.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the musical has struggled to find an audience since it started its run this past summer at the Hudson Theater.
Directed by Michael Mayer, the show counted Gwyneth Paltrow among its producers. In addition to the title song, it featured Go-Go’s hits like “We Got the Beat” and “Our Lips Are Sealed” as well as Belinda Carlisle’s solo hits “Heaven Is a Place On Earth” and “Mad About You.”
Producer Christine Russell told THR: “We are incredibly proud of what Head Over Heels has come to represent, not only on Broadway, but for future generations of theatregoers.” She said a touring production is possible.
