Beyoncé has the #1 song in country music right now, but all some fans are talking about is how her hit "Texas Hold 'Em" sounds an awful lot like a song from their childhood.
Some videos posted to social media claim Bey's latest song has perhaps ripped off the song "Hey, It's Franklin" from the popular children's show Franklin.
While both "Texas Hold 'Em" and the cartoon turtle theme song have a bit of a twang to them, the man behind "Hey, It's Franklin" doesn't seem too bothered by what other people hear.
Legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Bruce Cockburn wrote the theme song back in 1997, and has heard the comparisons, but says he doesn't agree.
"I think Beyoncé's 'Texas Hold 'Em' is a good record," he says, via a statement from his publicist. "Unfortunately, I can't claim to have had any part in writing it. The rhythmic feel is similar to my theme song for the 'Franklin' TV series, but to my ears that's where the similarity stops."
In a classy move, Cockburn signed off with, "'Texas Hold 'Em' is her song, and I wish her success with it!"
