Bruce Springsteen performed Friday night in Dallas with some notable absences in the E Street Band.
“We’ve got a few members missing tonight,” Springsteen told the crowd. “Steve Van Zandt — COVID. Soozie Tyrell — COVID. Patti Scialfa… but goddamn it, we’re gonna give Dallas the best show they’ve ever seen.”
On Twitter, Van Zandt thanked fans for their well wishes. “I’ve got a very mild case and hope to be back for Houston or Austin at the latest,” he wrote, referring to concerts scheduled for Feb. 14 and 16 respectively.
Van Zandt, 72, said he is vaccinated and boosted. "That’s why it’s a mild case. No real danger or damage.”
Springsteen and the E Street Band announced new dates for the tour, which was delayed due to COVID-19, last May. It is their first since the River tour in 2017.
