Canadian rocker Bryan Adams and comedian Russell Peters will be taking over hosting duties for the upcoming JUNO Awards April 2. Michael Bublé has pulled out of hosting the awards, as he continues to care for his three-year-old son who is battling cancer.
It was confirmed Adams and Peters would be teaming up today (Mar. 9). In a statement, Peters said, “Third time's a charm! And who better to share the stage with than Bryan Adams?! I'm actually really excited to be back, and looking so forward to making the 2017 Juno Awards a memorable one.”
Peters has previously hosted, first in 2008 in Calgary and 2009 in Vancouver. Bublé was confirmed as host last fall, but subsequently had to pull out to take care of his sick child.
He also pulled out of hosting the BRIT Awards earlier this year.
“Our thoughts continue to be with Michael — we respect his ongoing commitment to his family and look forward to working with him again in the future,” said Mike Cosentino, Bell Media's senior vice-president of content and programming, in a statement.
“We are thrilled that his friends Bryan and Russell have stepped up to host this year's broadcast and have no doubt they will deliver an unforgettable show.”
The JUNO Awards will air from Ottawa’s Canadian Tire Centre, Sunday April 2.
