Big Hit Entertainment, the company behind BTS, has donated $1 million (all figures U.S.) to Live Nation’s Crew Nation campaign.
“If it weren’t for COVID-19, we would have been happily touring across the world with many of our live concert crews by now,” read a statement attributed to the K-Pop group. “We are aware that a lot of communities need help due to COVID-19, and we wanted to support the music industry crews by making a donation. We hope to meet again on stage very soon.”
BTS was scheduled to spent May and early June in the U.S. and Canada (the group was set to play Toronto’s Rogers Centre on May 30 and 31) before taking the Map of the Soul World Tour to Japan and Europe.
Live Nation launched the fund at the end of March to support workers at venues impacted by the cancelation and postponement of concerts and events due to the pandemic. The company kicked in $5 million and pledged to match donations up to $5 million.
