Cage The Elephant has scrapped six European tour dates so that one of its members can recover from a serious leg injury.
In a statement shared on social media early Wednesday, the band said guitarist Nick Bockrath suffered “a ruptured PCL, torn ACL, fractured tibia and damaged meniscus” in an accident while performing at the Pinkpop Festival in Sweden last weekend.
“He tried to play through two shows, but he now requires immediate surgery and is currently getting the medical attention he needs,” it read.
Tonight’s show in Amsterdam is cancelled, as well as shows in London, Isle of Wight, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Paris.
Cage The Elephant, which is on tour in support of its fifth album Social Cues, is scheduled to join Beck for a North American tour that starts July 11 in Washington State and includes an Aug. 11 stop at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage. The band is also set to perform at September's iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.
