Calvin Harris says he plans to give up DJing by the time he turns 50.
The Scottish producer (real name Adam Wiles), who just turned 40, confessed during an interview with Capital Dance that he'd rather work inside the studio than get up in front of a big crowd.
“I always said that once I get past 50, I can’t see me DJing,” Harris said. “I’d prefer to be in the studio making tunes. The more commercial end [of DJing], it can get a little bit... suspect."
When asked exactly when he'd stop, he said with a laugh, "42? 43?"
Instead, Harris said he hopes to continue producing records with and for other artists, like he has with Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith, Frank Ocean, and most recently, Rag'n'Bone Man.
“I think that’s where the majority of my talent lies, making something sound good," he adds. "So I would like to make other people’s records sound good.”
