Canada's David Foster is not helping wrangle talent for Donald Trump’s inauguration next month (sorry, Sinbad).
“For the record, I was asked to participate in the upcoming inauguration some time ago and I politely declined,” the BC-born producer and composer explained in a message on Facebook.
“Any news outlet that is reporting otherwise is misinformed.”
Foster was evidently responding to an “exclusive” report by the New York Post’s Page Six that claimed he is “playing a pivotal role” in organizing celebrations for the incoming U.S. president.
According to the report, Foster is “a longtime friend of Trump and has been wrangling talent to perform at the January event.”
The Post noted how Trump’s team has been having trouble finding A-list performers for the inauguration.
“Foster has swooped in to save the day,” it claimed.
The report was likely based on the fact that two of Foster’s favourites, Jackie Evancho and Andrea Bocelli, are reportedly participating.
The Post did quote Foster as saying, “I have no idea where this story came from.”
Foster, 67, has written and produced records for dozens of the biggest names in music, including Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Whitney Houston and Christina Aguilera, as well as Canada's Céline Dion and Michael Bublé. He has won 16 Grammy Awards.
