Canadian rapper-singer Tory Lanez is facing a charge of carrying a concealed weapon after being arrested early Sunday in Los Angeles.
Police responded to calls about an altercation outside a house party in Hollywood at around 4:30 a.m. According to TMZ, witnesses said people were arguing in an SUV before someone fired shots in the air and the vehicle drove off.
Officers caught up to the SUV and conducted a search after noticing that the passenger, rapper Megan Thee Stallion, had an injured foot.
Lanez, 27, was taken into custody and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, which is a felony in California. Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, was not charged.
Lanez posted $35,000 U.S. bail and was released at 10:05 a.m., according to public records. He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 13.
Neither artist has commented publicly on the incident.
The Toronto area native, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was arrested by Miami Beach Police in December 2018 when officers spotted a gun in his car. He was released without charges because he is licensed to carry a weapon in Florida, where he lives.
