Canadian ‘90s group The Moffatts are reuniting for a farewell tour — in Southeast Asia.
The band of brothers will be short one sibling when they kick things off in February in the Philippines — where they remain the biggest-selling international group.
Dave Moffatt, now a yoga instructor in Toronto, won’t be joining brothers Bob, Clint and Scott.
“He doesn’t feel music aligns with his personal beliefs and values at this time,” father and manager Frank Moffatt told iHeartRadio.ca.
“But hey, he may change his mind.”
The Moffatts will perform Feb. 18 at Smart Araneta Coliseum, a 16,500-capacity venue in Manila. Promoters are working on setting up shows in Singapore, Jakarta and possibly Bali and Thailand.
“This will be a farewell tour,” insisted Moffatt, who said the response was “insane” when fans were asked on Facebook if they wanted to see the guys together again.
The Moffatts started as a country group in their native B.C. but became pop-rock stars in 1998 with the release of Chapter I: A New Beginning and hits like “I’ll Be There For You,” “Girl Of My Dreams” and “Misery.”
Their follow-up album, 2000’s Submodalities, spawned the hit “Bang Bang Boom.”
The Moffatts won several Juno Awards, including Best Pop Album and Best Group. The band broke up in the summer of 2001.
Bob and Clint, both now 32, have a flourishing country music act called Endless Summer and Scott, 33, continues to perform.
