Canadian artist Grimes announced this week she is changing her legal name to a lower-case italicized “c.”

“This will be much better,” she tweeted of the name, which also indicates the speed of light.

The 30-year-old B.C. native, whose real name is Claire Boucher, said the decision was sparked by boyfriend Elon Musk.

“He’s the one who pointed out that my working nickname (c) actually rox and i don’t need to look further,” Grimes explained, adding that she has been trying to change her name “forever” and her friends already call her “c.”

She tweeted: “claire has been the bane of my existence since i became sentient... i can barely say it w my speech impediment altho c is technically worse 4 lisp haha.”

Grimes later said only her legal name is changing, “not the band.”
