Stuck for the perfect Mother’s Day gift? How about a collection of Britney Spears’ costumes from some of her videos and live performances?
A Canadian collector is selling several pieces of the pop star’s wardrobe, including the iconic ensemble she wore (python not included) for her 2001 MTV VMAs performance of “I’m a Slave 4 U," on eBay.
With a week to go in the auction, bidding has topped $93,000 but the reserve price — the minimum the seller will accept — has not been reached.
The lot includes a custom Atelier Versace dress from the 2008 VMAs, the pink chaps she wore in the "Overprotected (Darkchild Remix)" music video, and an outfit from the “Me Against the Music” video with Madonna.
The seller, Dana Proctor of Edmonton, is looking for a buyer for the collection rather than for individual pieces.
“I believe they belong together,” wrote Proctor, who started acquiring the costumes in 2003. “These will forever hold their place in music history.”
Proctor has certificates of authenticity for the items from The Britney Spears Foundation.
If the eBay auction doesn't surpass the reserve bid, Proctor said she will consider using a traditional auction house.
