Cardi B says she will be "relaxing and travelling" this summer instead of releasing her new album.
After a fan tweeted about how she continues to promote a new album, yet continually delay and keep her fans waiting, Cardi responded with a now-deleted tweet.
“No it's just annoying this means a lot to me and it's always a complain and crying wit this pu**y ass fanbase,” Cardi wrote.
After some back and forth between the rapper and her critic, a fan then defended Cardi for being transparent in her interactions with the Bardi Gang.
"“It's time for her to pull back from social media platforms," a fan named PINK wrote. "Her engagement w/ fans is unappreciated,. aTransparency backfires because of her fans weirdo entitlement. Cardi doesn't have to interact with them, she chooses to and it's never good enough for them.”
In another now-deleted tweet, Cardi replied with an update, writing, "Exactly and I tell myself this all the time ..and I hate that I fall back and start interacting again and it bites me in the ass. anyway NO album this year I don't care I'm relaxing this year ..Dropping these features I already committed to and traveling and enjoying my summer.”
Another fan jumped in to claim that "the real tea is that the album is nowhere near done and she's blaming fans for her own incompetence."
“YEUP ITS NOT DONE CAUSE THERE IS NO ALBUM," Cardi B answered. "....Congrats you won a prize for your answer ...here's your prize."
Cardi B released her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, back in 2018, which now makes it six years and counting that fans have been waiting. Since she has continued to release one-off singles, including "Puntería," her recent collab with Shakira, and her 2020 hit "WAP" with Megan Thee Stallion.
Just last month Cardi tweeted about Invasion of Privacy turning six, adding, "I’m preparing to drop the next one this year.. it’s so different from what everyone is expecting and I’m sooo excited." But that no longer seems to be happening. :\
