Instagram works as a dating site. Just ask country stars Carly Pearce and Michael Ray.
Pearce recently told Taste of Country how she slid into Ray’s DMs.
“I've had a crush on him for a really long time and just always thought there was more to that pretty face,” she explained. “And there totally is.”
Her plan was to comment on all of Ray's Instagram stories in an effort to snag his attention. “I did what every girl does in 2018, slid into the DMs,” Pearce said.
Unfortunately, the task went on a little long. "He’ll tell you it took him a second to get it,” added Pearce.
In a separate interview with Cody Alan, Ray admitted that Pearce did all of the work and that he did not want to be presumptuous.
“I don't know if it's a guy thing, but I don't catch on to hints worth crap,” Ray explained. “I was also afraid to be like, ‘I think she's into me,’ because I want to see her again. So if she's not into me, and I go in thinking she is, that's weird.”
Ray initially played coy about their relationship, but the couple confirmed it in July via social media with a pic of them cuddled up backstage at the Grand Ole Opry.
Pearce captioned the photo: “And then one random night at the Nashville Palace changed everything.”
