Carly Rae Jepsen says she hopes to write a stage musical.
The 33-year-old B.C. native told UK publication Metro she doesn’t want to jump directly into making a new album.
“I’ve been talking about writing a pop musical. That’s a really fun dream,” Jepsen said. “It was a friends meeting that turned into a business meeting. We were collaborating and performing, and our musical producer was like ‘what do you do with the rest of your songs?’”
The “Call Me Maybe” singer described the project as “maybe a five, 10-year plan because it would take a lot of time to create.”
Jepsen added: “Yeah, it’s always been something I’ve dreamed about doing.”
Despite starring in the 2014 Broadway production of Cinderella and playing Frenchy in 2016’s TV special Grease: Live, Jepsen insists she’s not anxious to perform in a musical.
“I really enjoyed Cinderella, but [Grease: Live] was a little scary for me,” she admitted. “I got through it, but I was so scared.
“It would have to be the right thing. It doesn’t mean I’m not interested in theatre and acting, but it would have to be the right thing and that I felt comfortable.”
