The story of Céline Dion is coming to the big screen.
The Canadian chanteuse has put her stamp of approval on a $30 million biopic titled The Power of Love, starring French actress Valérie Lemercier.
The film, scheduled for release in December 2020, will chronicle Dion’s life from her birth in the Montreal suburb of Charlemagne to her relationship with René Angélil and her rise to global superstar status.

Lemercier will portray the adult version of Dion and will also direct the film, which will be mostly in French and will include a number of the singer’s biggest hits.
Production begins in March, with shooting taking place in France and Spain as well as in Montreal and Las Vegas.
An unauthorized biopic titled Céline aired in Canada in 2008 with Christine Ghawi and Jodelle Ferland as Dion and Enrico Colantoni as Angélil. It was shot in Southern Ontario.
