Canadian chanteuse Céline Dion disappointed more fans this week by cancelling two more shows at The Colosseum in Las Vegas.
"Céline has been suffering for the past week from congestion and irritation of the vocal chords due to a lingering cold," read a statement Tuesday on her Facebook page, "and her physician has instructed her to rest for the next 48 hours in order for her to fully recover."
Shows scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday were cancelled, bringing to five the number of shows scrapped this month. She also pulled the plug on performances on Jan. 6, 9 and 13.
“Cancelling a show is the hardest thing I have to do, especially when I know that so many people have travelled far to see me in Las Vegas," Dion said on Facebook last weekend. "This decision is not made lightly. When I’m not well, I always try to push through and I do everything I can to do my show.
“I know that I’m disappointing you, the people who support me the most and it hurts me beyond words,” she wrote. “I hope that you can forgive me.”
Dion's next scheduled show is on Friday.
It's not the first time Dion has cited illness as the reason for cancelling a string of performances in Vegas. In November 2016, she missed three shows due to a viral infection.
Last week, Dion announced that she is touring Asia this summer, after cancelling a tour of the region in 2014 to care for her ailing husband.
“We’re playing some countries for the very first time ever in my whole career,” she said in a video message, “as well as returning to some places that we have loved and played before.”
The tour consists of 10 concerts in seven cities in Japan, Macau, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Singapore between June 26 and July 23.
