Céline Dion returned to her Las Vegas stage on Tuesday night, only 48 hours after the mass shooting blocks away.
The Canadian singer started her show at Caesars Palace by standing in front of the curtain to talk to the audience.
“After Sunday night’s incredibly tragic event, all of us here find ourselves asking a similar question,” Dion said. “For you it’s, ‘Do we still go to Céline’s show on Tuesday night, only two days after the nightmare?’ For me it’s, ‘Can I still do my show? Should I still do my show only two days after the nightmare?’”
Dion explained that she wanted to return to the stage so soon after the tragedy “to show love and support for those who are affected” and said the proceeds from Tuesday’s show would be donated to the victims’ families.
“On Sunday we lost too many beautiful, innocent souls, and so many are still suffering, but tonight we’re going to let these families know that we are supporting them and that we will help them through their tragic loss,” she said.
Dion also dedicated her performance to doctors, nurses and first responders in Las Vegas.
