McAfee has released its annual ranking of the most dangerous celebrities to search for online and, in Canada, the rap star is at No. 6.
South of the border, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj are ranked 8th and 9th respectively. Minaj is also in the Top 10 on the UK, along with Billie Eilish, Sam Smith and Dua Lipa.
At No. 1 on this year’s Canadian list is actor Alexander Skarsgård. Also in the Top 10 are TV hosts Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon, Nick Cannon, John Oliver and Jimmy Kimmel as well as actresses Jada Pinkett Smith, Margo Martindale and Lupita Nyong’o.
“Consumers may not be fully aware that the searches they conduct pose risk, nor may they understand the detrimental effects that can occur when personal information is compromised in exchange for access to their favourite celebrities, movies, TV shows or music,” McAfee’s Gary Davis said, in a release.
“Criminals use deceptive websites to dupe unsuspecting consumers into accessing malicious files or content. It is essential that consumers learn to protect their digital lives from lurking cybercriminals by thinking twice before they click on suspicious links or download content.”
