Chance the Rapper recently ressurected his SNL character Lazlo Holmes for a series of comedy bits on NBC’s weekly hockey broadcasts.
Before Wednesday’s game, a segment aired showing Holmes interviewing his first player on a Canadian team – Toronto Maple Leafs centre Auston Matthews.
Chance, as Holmes, wondered how (and why) Matthews was able to play hockey while growing up in Arizona and asked him to name some of the “hockeyers” that he looked up to.
Holmes also opined that Matthews looks like “the prime suspect in a game of Clue.”
Previous segments with Chance as Holmes featured interviews with Canadian players Jonathan Marchessault of the Vegas Golden Knights and PK Subban of the New Jersey Devils.
Chance debuted Lazlo Holmes – a Knicks correspondent who’s forced to report on a Rangers game – when he guest hosted SNL in November 2017. The rap star will host again on Oct. 26.
