Chris Brown was arrested Monday in Paris after a woman filed a sexual assault complaint, according to reports.
The Associated Press said the singer was in custody Tuesday facing potential charges of aggravated rape and drug infractions.
The alleged sexual assault happened at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, where she and Brown went after meeting at Le Crystal club last Wednesday night.
One of Brown’s bodyguards is also reportedly being detained.
Authorities have another two days to decide whether to file preliminary charges against Brown or release him.
Sony Music has not yet commented on the arrest, according to the AP.
The 29-year-old R&B star pleaded guilty to assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. He was arrested last July in Florida in connection with an incident involving a photographer at a Tampa club in 2017. In February 2017, Brown's ex Karrueche Tran was granted a five-year restraining order against the singer after she alleged that he threatened to kill her. A year earlier, Brown was charged after a woman called police to claim he threatened her with a gun.
In 2013, Brown was arrested for assault in Washington, D.C. after an altercation outside a hotel when two men tried to take a photo with him. The singer allegedly made a homophobic comment and then punched one of the men.
Last month, Brown was charged with owning an exotic animal – a capuchin monkey – in Los Angeles.
