A statue of late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell in his hometown of Seattle was unveiled over the weekend.
Cornell's children Lillian Jean, Toni and Christopher did the honours at the Seattle Museum of Pop Culture, alongside Cornell's widow, Vicky, and his surviving Soundgarden bandmates.
In her remarks at the unveiling Sunday night, Vicky recalled her husband's "beautiful, powerful, incomparable presence."
She added that artist Nick Marra's sculpture would be "a focal point to keep Chris' memory alive."
"It's a reflection of his light, a light that shone through his music and touched millions; a light that he used to illuminate our lives; a light that will continue to inspire those in the future,” she said.
“As Seattle's son he paved the way for other artists and drew the eyes of the world to Seattle. He was the voice of a generation and an artist that continued to draw us together forever. Along with his children, I am committed to continuing his legacy.”
Among those legacy projects is an album of 11 previously unreleased Chris Cornell songs due out Nov. 11.
