Country star Chris Lane is engaged!
The 34-year-old singer popped the question on Sunday to girlfriend (and The Bachelor alumnus) Lauren Bushnell after less than a year together.
"I’ve been trying to write her the perfect song to tell her how much I love her," he explained in an Instagram post. "Then I decided to use it to propose to her!"
Lane proposed with “Big Big Plans,” which he performed in a video he shared on YouTube. At the end, he takes Bushnell’s hand and gets down on bended knee in the backyard of her family’s Oregon home.
“Baby, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me,” he said to her. “I have to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Lane told People he accidentally stepped in doggy doo – in barefeet! – just before popping the question.
“I can’t stop smiling,” Bushnell, 29, wrote in an Instagram post on Tuesday. “I feel so incredibly blessed that every misstep, mistake and heartache has led me to you. I couldn’t be happier to call you mine, forever. The journey was well worth it.
"Thank you Christopher Eric Lane for softening my heart and making it whole. Never going to stop telling you how much I love you and I will hold onto you forever and ever! Lauren Lane has a nice ring to it.”
It will be the first marriage for both.
