Fans have seen Chris Lane's country music career grow fast first-hand, from his debut single "Fix" (which hit the top 10 on the U.S. Country chart and No. 4 on the U.S. Country Airplay chart), to the release of his debut EP of the same name, to the release of his debut full-length album Girl Problems. The North Carolina native's unique sound has landed him on tour with artists like Dustin Lynch, Rascal Flatts, and Florida Georgia Line (who he is now back out on tour with). Chris was also received a Best New Country Artist nomination at this year's iHeartRadio Music Awards.
So, what's next for Chris? We caught up with the signer/songwriter in Nashville at the Country Music Hall of Fame, and during an exclusive interview, he talked about going on tour with Florida Georgia Line, writing new music while on the road, and ... the Backstreet Boys. Check it out below!
Last year was such an exciting year for you. So what can fans look forward to this year? What three things should they look out for from you?
"I'm going to be on tour with Florida Georgia Line, which I am very, very excited about. It's going to be an amazing year. Hopefully some new music this year, And a lot of terrible dance moves on stage. I mean, people already know that about me but..."
Are you gonna whip those dance moves out on stage with Florida Georgia Line?
"Definitely going to whip them out on stage with Florida Georgia Line."
I know that you're a Backstreet Boy fan and they performed with the guys so ...
"I was very jealous. My jealously level went to a level 100. But, I'm hoping in the midst of all that, I'll get to meet them because of that."
You're writing new music now?
"Yes. On off days I spend my time writing. Not a whole lot right now, but as I'm getting into the year I will be writing a whole lot, and just trying to figure out exactly what I want for my next project, and we'll go from there."
Being that you're going out on the road with Florida Georgia Line, do you think that you'll end up writing songs with them?
"Yeah, without a doubt. The beautiful part about that is that they have the bus out there specifically full of writers, and you can kinda jump in on writes on most days if you want to, whether it's with them or whoever it may be. That will be a very useful tool out on the road. I'm gonna love that."
Having released your full-length albumĀ Girl Problems, what do you take with you when you're now writing new music?
"It took a while, but I figured out my style and what I loved, and I'll just continue with more of that. It's been great to be able to play all these songs live, and to see what people react to, and to see the songs that really stick out, and the ones that they love the most. I'll aim for more stuff like that and we'll see what happens with it."
