Christina Aguilera said Tuesday she will perform at this year’s American Music Awards to mark the 25th anniversary of The Bodyguard.
The film, which starred Whitney Houston, spawned the best-selling soundtrack album of all time. Co-produced by Canada's David Foster – who also co-wrote the single “I’ve Got Nothing” – the album included Houston’s smash hit cover of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.”
On Instagram, Aguilera wrote: “I am excited, honoured and humbled to perform a tribute to one of my idols.”
Houston died in 2012 at 48.
Aguilera, who hasn't put out a new studio album since 2012, is no stranger to paying tribute to Houston. At the 2001 BET Awards, she belted out her version of “Run To You” from The Bodyguard.
The AMAs will be broadcast on Nov. 19, two days after the release of I Wish You Love: More From The Bodyguard, a collection of new mixes of songs from the movie.
