Infectious children’s songs like “Baby Shark” and “Raining Tacos” are playing on a loop in a Florida park in an effort to discourage people from sleeping there.
The music plays overnight outside the Waterfront Lake Pavilion in West Palm Beach, where city workers have reportedly had to clean up “unsanitary things” left behind by homeless people.
Spokesperson Kathleen Walter said in a statement the songs are meant to discourage "congregating at the building" and to "encourage people to seek safer, more appropriate shelter.”
The building, a popular spot for weddings and special events, generates about $240,000 U.S. in revenues every year.
Homeless rights advocates have criticized the strategy.
