Singer-songwriter Clairo has been forced to postpone the three Toronto concerts on her Charm Tour citing "extreme exhaustion" as the reason.
Just as doors were about to open for the first of her three shows at Massey Hall last night (October 23), the 26-year-old shared a message with fans that she would not be able to perform.
"Hi everyone, I’m really sorry to inform you that I will be postponing the next 3 Toronto shows," she wrote. "I know this is disappointing to everyone who bought tickets to see me play but I’m struggling with extreme exhaustion and have been advised to go home until our Boston shows.
"I want you to experience the best show possible, and I’m not in a place to do that right now," she continued. "I will share updates as I have them regarding refunds, a rescheduled showdate that will honour your current tickets, etc. Please hold onto your tickets! I appreciate your understanding. I will make it up to you!"
When one fan on X pointed out that fans had already started lining up for the first show, Clairo responded, saying she is "trying to survive."
"the most i can say is i’m sorry and i’m trying to figure out everything & refunds etc in real time - i’m trying to survive," she tweeted. ".. i know it’s not what you want to hear .. tour can bring people to a point of no return i am returning in boston as to not cancel more shows , love to you."
On Wednesday afternoon, Clairo posted on X about the shows with excitement, writing, "3 nights in toronto - starting tonight !"
Massey Hall sent out an email to fans saying tickets purchased for the original date will be honoured at the rescheduled event. No information was given regarding refunds.
Clairo has a bit of a curse when it comes to playing Toronto. In 2022, she had to postpone her Canadian dates "due to local guidelines" (read: COVID-19 precautions). When the shows were rescheduled, on the second night she played in Toronto that July she left the stage early and didn't return because of issues with her in-ear monitors.
She is expected to return to her tour in Boston on Monday, October 28, where she will play two nights at Roadrunner.
