Chris Janson had a successful 2016 and we're still enjoying music from his debut album Buy Me A Boat.
"Holdin' Her” is the country star's latest single, released late last year, and is a beautiful ballad based on Janson’s true love story with his wife, Kelly, and their four children. And while we take in Janson's gorgeous, heartfelt lyrics, there is plenty more on the way from the country star -- fans can look forward to a lot of new music and live shows in 2017.
We recently caught up with Janson in Nashville at the Country Music Hall of Fame, and during an exclusive interview, the 30-year-old singer/songwriter told us about his new single, teased that new music is on the way, and talked about going on tour.
Last year, Janson’s single "Buy Me A Boat" was incredibly successful, hitting No. 2 on the US Hot Country Songs chart, No. 3 on the US Country Airplay chart, and No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The song also earned him an iHeartRadio Music Award for Country Song of the Year. Now, "Holdin' Her" (which he tells us is the oldest song on his album) is making its way up the charts.
"It's just a real story about my family, which is the biggest reason that I live and wake up in the morning,” explained Janson. “And really, the biggest reason I work, and love to work.”
In addition to a new album, fans can also look forward to seeing Janson out on the road this year. "I mean that's all I've ever really known, and it's what I really do,” he said of touring.
In fact, Janson recently announced that he was joining Sam Hunt on his 15 In A 30 Tour, along with recent Grammy-winner Maren Morris.
"A Chris Janson show -- it's a roller coaster of emotions. It's ups and downs, big time. If I had to step back from [myself] and look, I would say it's like going to see Guns N' Roses, mixed with Ramones, mixed with some Merle Haggard and a little bit of Hank [Williams], Jr,” said Janson.
“So I would say those are pretty four good descriptive pieces there. It's a pretty amazing thing. I just let the music lead. I let the music do the talking, and I don't ever do anything other than that."
