Canadian country singer Eloie Richard announced Monday that he is cancelling upcoming concerts due to a health issue.
The indie artist from New Brunswick was recently treated for appendicitis. “”It turns out after further investigation that the doctor found a tumour (cancer) and I need to go in to surgery,” Richard shared on Facebook.
He did not specify the location of the cancer.
Due to an expected six-week recovery period, Richard has cancelled several shows, including a July 9 appearance at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival on PEI.
“I plan on making a full recovery and continuing my musical journey,” the singer added.
Before he goes in for surgery, Richard will open for Russell deCarle of Prairie Oyster on Saturday in St. Stephen, NB.
“I'm so THANKFUL for all your continued support, love and prayers,” wrote Richard. “I LOVE AND APPRECIATE YOU ALL SO MUCH!”
