A New York court on Tuesday struck down an attempt by Kesha to get out of her contract with producer Dr. Luke, whom she has accused of sexual abuse.
“Kesha's proposed amendments are palpably insufficient and devoid of merit," read the appeals court ruling.
It also demanded that Kesha turn over messages between her publicists and former lawyer.
It’s one more setback for the singer, who is embroiled in a legal battle with Dr. Luke (real name Lukasz Gottwald). Justice Shirley Kornreich previously denied Kesha’s request for an injunction so she could sign with a new record label; denied Kesha the ability to make hate crime allegations against Dr. Luke; and denied Kesha’s attempt to countersue Dr. Luke.
Dr. Luke is suing Kesha for defamation and seeking compensation for income he could have made from working with Katy Perry and other artists who bailed after Kesha made sexual assault allegations against him.
The producer, who has denied the allegations against him, is seeking $50 million (U.S.) in damages.
