Rapper CupcakKe temporarily deleted her Twitter account and announced Sunday that she is quitting music.
The moves came after a weekend in which the 22-year-old Chicago rapper, whose real name is Elizabeth Harris, accused Camila Cabello of being racist and claimed to have hooked up with Shawn Mendes.
In a series of bizarre tweets over the weekend, CupcakKe called Cabello the one “that use to be in that lil pop group” and “the one that’s dating the fine gay guy.”
Cabello was formerly in Fifth Harmony. Mendes told Rolling Stone in 2018: “In the back of my heart, I feel like I need to go be seen with someone — like a girl — in public, to prove to people that I’m not gay, even though in my heart I know that it’s not a bad thing.”
In a tweet directed at Cabello, CupcakKe claimed that she had sex with Mendes and “did on purpose since your (sic) racist & that’s the TEA !!”
She also complained about the size of Mendes' penis and expressed her distaste for uncircumcised guys.
CupcakKe's Twitter account was restored on Monday.
In a video message she shared on Instagram on Sunday night, CupcakKe – on a tour stop in Orlando – said: "I don't want to do music no more. I just want out the music industry." She said she feels as though she is "corrupting" young fans.
The rapper is known for her sexually explicit tracks and provocative social media posts (her Twitter name was “Marilyn MonHOE”).
In her emotional video message, CupcakKe vowed to remove all her music from streaming platforms. "I am just done. I want to go to heaven after this, and I don't want to go, you know, I don't want to go to hell."
In January, she was taken to hospital by Chicago Police after tweeting that she was suicidal. Among those sharing support for CupcakKe at the time was pop star Charli XCX, who tweeted: “You are powerful. People believe in you. People want to listen to every word you have to say. People are inspired.
"You have taught me and so many others so much about being ourselves, embracing exactly who we are and being proud of where we come from and what we stand for.”
