Damian Marley, the youngest son of reggae icon Bob Marley, will be honoured in Toronto this spring.
The 40-year-old recording artist will receive a Luminary Award at the 10th annual University of West Indies (UWI) Toronto Gala on April 6 at the Ritz-Carlton.
The award is given to people of Caribbean heritage who have made outstanding achievements on an international scale. Also receiving the award this year is Canadian singer Deborah Cox.
Marley, the youngest son of reggae icon Bob Marley, started his music career as a teen in the Shephards and later became a successful solo artist who has racked up four Grammy wins. He has collaborated with artists like Nas, Mick Jagger, and Joss Stone.
