Country star Hank Williams Jr. is mourning the death of his daughter on Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash. She was 27.
Katherine Williams-Dunning was driving a 2007 Chevy Tahoe with a boat trailer near Paris, Tennessee – about two hours west of Nashville – at around 7:45 pm when the vehicle crossed a highway median and rolled, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Williams-Dunning and her husband, 29-year-old Tyler Dunning, were airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center. His condition was not immediately disclosed but half-sister Holly Williams shared on Instagram on Sunday morning that Dunning was “awake and responding."
Williams-Dunning ran Weston Jane, a clothing company named for her children Beau Weston, 5, and Audrey Jane, 2.
Katherine is the singer’s daughter with third wife Mary Jane Thomas, with whom he also has son Samuel. Williams Jr., 71, also has daughters Holly and Hilary with second wife Becky White and a son, Shelton, with first wife Gwen Yeargain.
“My family and I knew Katie ever since she was a kid,” tweeted Travis Tritt. “I cannot even imagine what Hank, Mary Jane and the rest of the Williams family are going through right now.”
