A David Bowie Book Club has been launched by the late rock singer’s son, film director and producer Duncan Jones.
Jones took to Twitter – under the handle @ManMadeMoon – on Tuesday to announce the project. “My dad was a beast of a reader. Back in 2013, the Art Gallery of Ontario curated an exhibit of Bowie’s 100 favourite books, David Bowie…Is. Included on the list are authors such as Christopher Hitchens, Don DeLillo, Tom Stoppard, George Orwell, and Truman Capote.
The first book club novel chosen by Jones is Hawksmoor by Peter Ackroyd. Fans wishing to join in on the book club action, and possibly discuss the literature with Jones on Twitter, have until Feb. 1 to complete the novel.
Bowie died in 2016 after a battle with liver cancer, just two days after releasing his 25th studio album, Blackstar.
Jones, 46, directed the 2011 made-in-Montreal film Source Code and 2016's B.C.-shot Warcraft.
