One would think a rock star like Joe Elliott is accustomed to using the same spaces where hockey players shed their post-game jockstraps.

The Def Leppard frontman, though, made a point of calling out an Ontario arena for the way it smells. In a behind-the-scenes video shot inside Hamilton’s FirstOntario Centre last July, Elliott notes that FirstOntario "is old.”

He goes on to share that “the underneath of this building f**king stinks – like, a 10,000 asses stink. It's awful. Its f**king minging.” (“Minging” is a British term for foul-smelling.)

FirstOntario Centre, which opened in 1985 as Copps Coliseum, hosted Def Leppard on July 20, 2019. The long list of concerts staged at the 19,000-capacity venue includes three sold-out nights by BTS in 2018.

The video in which Elliott describes the building’s stench has been on YouTube since July 31, 2019 but only garnered attention after it was mentioned in a Reddit thread.

In an interview with CBC News, Hamilton councillor Jason Farr jokingly countered that Def Leppard is "also old and stinks.”

Ozzy Osbourne is scheduled to play FirstOntario Centre on June 18.
