Demi Lovato has veered clear of even more controversy regarding her lawsuit with indie pop act Sleigh Bells after the pop star was accused of infringing on their 2010 hit, "Infinity Guitars," in relation to her 2015 Confident bonus cut, "Stars."
Last November, Alexis Krauss and Derek Edward Miller took to Twitter to accuse the former Disney starlet of ripping off their hit. Team Lovato denied the allegations, so the Sleigh Bells took their issue to court and filed their complaint in April, admitting the "sonic qualities of portions of 'Infinity Guitars' and 'Stars' are substantially similar." Even though Lovato's producers Carl Falk and Rami Yacoub denied that the singer had anything to do with production, they admitted she "wrote top line."
"A comparison of the two songs reveals that, at the very least, the combination of the hand claps and bass drum, structured as 3 quarter beats and a rest, with the bass drum providing a counter-rhythm to the hand claps, is at least substantially similar in both works," the complaint read. "This infringing material repeats throughout the Defendants' song."
Billboard reports that the settlement was "noted in court papers filed by UMG Recordings, Falk and Yacoub" on Wednesday morning (Apr. 12). Even though the details of the deal were not disclosed, they are in the middle of being "memorialized by the two sides."
