Demi Lovato's directorial debut, Child Star, will begin streaming next month on Hulu.
The documentary, which was first announced last year, will see Lovato examine the lives of former child stars, including her own, as she sits down and has candid, emotional discussions with actors such as Drew Barrymore, Christina Ricci, Raven-Symoné, JoJo Siwa, her Camp Rock co-star Alyson Stoner and Kenan Thompson.
“I’m so proud to make my directorial debut with this documentary that sheds light on the complexities of child stardom, a topic that is very close to my heart,” Lovato said to The Hollywood Reporter. “I want to thank our cast for being so vulnerable with their stories and our contributors for sharing their knowledge to help push the conversation forward. I hope viewers will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and pressures faced by young people in the industry so we can achieve our goal of creating a safer and more supportive environment for future generations young talents in entertainment, social media and beyond.”
Co-directed with Nicola Marsh (Stay on Board: The Leo Baker Story), Child Star looks to "deconstruct the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the world’s most famous former child stars, including Lovato.”
Child Star makes its Hulu premiere on September 17.
