The video for the original version of “Despacito” made history twice this week.
Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s video became the most-watched video on YouTube and the first ever to surpass 3 billion views.
The video was posted in January of this year.
“What an honor,” wrote Fonsi on Instagram. “Thank you to everybody involved. Thank you, the fans, for celebrating this song with us.”
Hot on the tail of "Despacito" is "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa feat. Charlie Puth, which has almost hit 3 billion views. It was posted in April 2015.
An audio-only YouTube post of “Despacito” featuring vocals by Justin Bieber has been played more than 472 million times since April.
