Dolly Parton is bringing her life story to Broadway.
Speaking at CMA Fest on June 6, the country music legend has revealed that the long-awaited biographical musical is titled Hello, I'm Dolly, named after Parton's 1967 debut album, will make its debut in 2026.
“I just wanted to say that I wouldn’t be here, if you hadn’t been there, and I mean that — and that happens to be the name of one of the songs that’s going to be in my new Broadway musical,” she said in front of an audience. “I’ve written a whole lot of original songs for it, as well as all the hit songs that you know.”
“You’ll get to know all of my life, up to now,” she added. “It really does have a lot of story, a lot of family.”
She also posted about it on Instagram, writing, "I’ve been writing my life story as a Broadway musical for several years and I’m proud to announce we are finally developing ‘Hello, I’m Dolly - An Original Musical’ for the Broadway stage." See the post below.
The musical has been in the works since at least 2016, when Parton told Variety it would be "be probably two years before it actually hits the stage knowing how slow things go."
Parton will produce the musical with her longtime manager, Danny Nozell, and ATG Productions, the UK theater company behind the recent Broadway revival of Cabaret.
In addition, Parton also announced the launch of her own line of wine. "I’m very excited to officially launch @dollywines today! Crafted with love, these wines are the perfect addition to spending time with family and friends. So let’s raise a glass together!" Fans can pre-order a bottle of "Dolly Chardonnay" here.
