U.S. president Donald Trump took to Twitter to respond to opinions voiced by Jay-Z during a CNN interview on Saturday.
Speaking to Van Jones, the rapper referred to the president as a “superbug.”
Asked about Trump's description of certain African nations as "s***hole countries," Jaz-Z said: “It’s disappointing and hurtful. But this has has been going on, this is how people talk behind close doors.
“Because once you do it, all the other closet racists just run back into the hole, you haven’t fixed anything. What you’ve done is spray perfume on a trash can. And when you do that… you create a superbug, because you don’t take care of the problem. You don’t take the trash out, you just keep spraying over it to make it acceptable. And as those things grow, you create a superbug, and now we have Donald Trump, the superbug.”
Regarding the current strength of the American economy, Jay-Z was asked if the president’s remarks should be overlooked.
“It’s not about money at the end of the day,” he replied. “Money is not — money doesn’t equate to happiness. It doesn’t. That’s missing the whole point. You treat people like human beings, then — that’s the main point.”
After evidently seeing the interview, Trump used social media to refute the rapper’s claims.
“Somebody please inform Jay-Z that because of my policies, Black Unemployment has just been reported to be at the LOWEST RATE EVER RECORDED!”
