Michael McDonald is returning to the Doobie Brothers for a tour to mark the band’s 50th anniversary.
Kicking off in Florida in June, the tour includes only one stop in Canada – a July 19 show at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage.
Tickets go on sale to the general public Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. local time.
It will be the first time McDonald has gone on the road with Tom Johnston, Patrick Simmons and John McFee in almost 25 years.
“We’re truly excited about our 50th Anniversary Tour, as it’s a celebration of the band’s entire history,” Johnston said, in a release. “We’ll be performing songs from our full catalogue, as well as new music.”
The Doobie Brothers were formed in 1970 and released five studio albums in as many years before McDonald joined. Their first single with him was 1976’s “Takin’ It to the Streets,” which was a Top 10 hit in Canada.
With McDonald, the Doobie Brothers earned Grammys in 1979 for “What a Fool Believes” and “Minute By Minute.”
McDonald left the group in 1982, after singing on four Doobie Brothers albums, to pursue a solo career.
